clear March night –
coyote’s call
startles visitor

October arrives –
coyotes audition
a new soloist

coyote
golden in the sunshine
on the green hill

under the covers
closing my eyes
to a coyote lullabye

dense fog —
coyotes howl
from the mist

windy afternoon
coyote runs across
bare cornfield

coyotes howl –
dogs become
road runners

the coyote chorus,
sopranos, altos, tenors –
pale autumn moon
