late-night taco run –
wind sweeps dry leaves
under my car

night drive –
scraggly fox
flees the headlights

night drive
guessing at what
the speedometer says

cooler night –
katydids compete
with sirens

bright above
night-dark river

thud

winter night
lovesick cat yowls
outside my window

snow cover
cloud cover
bright night

aircraft engine
pulses overhead –
silent night again
